Tattvaa Yogashala is the first and oldest Ashtanga and Hatha yoga school in
Rishikesh, India, and the only yoga school located on the banks of the
Ganges. Founded in 2000 by senior teacher Yogi Kamal Singh in the world's
yoga capital, it has since expanded and become a haven for study and
practice for yogis worldwide.
It all began in our small Shala, or school, on the banks of the sacred
Ganges. Prior to being a yoga space, the small yogashala functioned as a
shelter for pilgrims from across India to spend time with the Ganga and in
the holy city of Rishikesh. Our Yoga Alliance-certified schools in India
continue to carry the vibrancy of all who come to Rishikesh as seekers. It
is now home for the yoga students who have also come from far away on their
pilgrimages. Every year the Ganga comes to bless the shala with a flood,
taking away all the exhausted energy and refreshing it with her divine
power. The Yogashala is both a vibrant and inspiring place to practise, with
its history and location overlooking the Ganga water.
Tattvaa Yogashala began its journey with only a few students. However, as
more and more students have come every year to practise, the school has
since expanded and grown from its humble roots at the Tattvaa Yogashala and
other locations in Ram Jhula, including the expansive yoga hall at Gita
Ashram. Our top yoga school India spaces overlook the scenic Himalayas or
the Ganges river, allowing students to practise surrounded by inspiring
views and energy.
