Your RYT-200 → 300 → 500 Yoga Teacher Training Pathway
A complete, step-by-step guide to becoming a Yoga Alliance-registered teacher with Tattvaa Yogashala — whether you're starting fresh or upgrading an existing RYT-200 from another school.
What is the Yoga Alliance RYT pathway?
The Yoga Alliance pathway is a tiered credentialing system that recognises three levels of teacher training: RYT-200, RYT-500 and E-RYT. Every level corresponds to a specific volume of contact hours completed at a Registered Yoga School (RYS). You begin with a 200-hour foundational course, then add a 300-hour advanced course to reach RYT-500. Hours from any Yoga Alliance RYS can stack — you do not have to complete all three tiers with the same school.
At Tattvaa Yogashala, we are a Yoga Alliance-registered RYS at all three levels (RYS-200, RYS-300, RYS-500). That means your hours with us count toward registration whether you do a single course or follow the entire pathway here. Graduates also gain access to our worldwide alumni network of 20,000+ certified teachers in 121+ countries.
Already RYT-200 elsewhere?
You can join our 300-hour course directly — no need to re-do your 200h with us. We'll verify your existing RYT-200 credential from any Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School and place you straight into the advanced program.

Which Route Is Right For You?
Route A: Start from scratch
You've never taught yoga. Begin with our 200-hour YTT to earn RYT-200, teach for 6–12 months, then return for the 300-hour to upgrade to RYT-500.
Total time: 200h now + 300h later · Credential: RYT-500
Route B: All-in-one residency
You want every hour done before you start teaching. Our integrated 500-hour residency covers both tiers back-to-back — you leave Rishikesh as an RYT-500.
Total time: ~60 days · Credential: RYT-500
Route C: Bridge your existing RYT-200
You already hold an RYT-200 from another Yoga Alliance school. Skip ahead to our 300-hour YTT. Your existing 200h plus our 300h registers you as RYT-500.
Total time: ~30 days · Credential: RYT-500
Pathway FAQ
I already have an RYT-200 from another school — can I join your 300-hour?
Yes. We accept RYT-200 graduates from any Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS). You don't have to repeat your 200-hour with us. Submit a copy of your RYT-200 certificate during application and our admissions team verifies your credential with Yoga Alliance before confirming your seat.
Do my 200-hour and 300-hour have to be at the same school?
No. Yoga Alliance allows hours to stack across registered schools. Your 200h with school A and 300h with school B combine to qualify you for RYT-500 status, provided both schools are RYS-registered.
How long until I can call myself an RYT-500?
After you complete both 200h and 300h training and pay the Yoga Alliance registration fee, your designation upgrades to RYT-500 within 7–10 business days. Tattvaa Yogashala issues your course completion certificates immediately upon graduation; Yoga Alliance handles the public registry update separately.
What's the difference between RYT-500 (split) and our integrated 500h?
The credential is identical — both routes register you as RYT-500 with Yoga Alliance. The integrated 500h saves travel and lodging costs by doing both tiers in one ~60-day residency, while the split path lets you teach in between and return when you're ready.
Can I do the 300-hour without ever earning RYT-200?
No — Yoga Alliance requires an active RYT-200 before you can register the 300-hour as RYT-500. If you haven't done a 200h yet, take our integrated 500-hour program instead; it includes the 200h foundation and the 300h advanced material in one residency.
Do I need to teach between RYT-200 and RYT-300?
No teaching hours are required between tiers. Many students prefer to teach for 6–12 months to consolidate their RYT-200 before returning for the 300-hour, but it's a personal choice, not a Yoga Alliance prerequisite.
How long is each tier?
Tattvaa Yogashala delivers the 200-hour YTT over 24–26 days, the 300-hour over 27–30 days, and the integrated 500-hour over 56–60 days. All are full-residency programs with 8–9 hours of daily contact across asana, pranayama, philosophy, anatomy, alignment and teaching methodology.
What does "E-RYT" mean and how do I get it?
E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) is a Yoga Alliance designation earned after teaching documented hours post-certification — it's not a course we teach. E-RYT 200 requires 2 years and 1,000 teaching hours after your RYT-200; E-RYT 500 requires 4 years and 2,000 hours after RYT-500. Our lead trainer Kamal Singh holds E-RYT 500.
