K. Pattabhi Jois popularised the Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga in the 20th century, often called classical Indian yoga in the modern era. Ashtanga means eight limbs or components in which yoga asanas or physical yoga posture is merely one branch, and pranayama or breath is another. Sharath Jois, the grandson of K. Pattabhi Jois, encouraged the practice of all eight limbs of Ashtanga yoga. The first two limbs Yamas and Niyamas are given special priority to be practised in conjunction with the 3rd and 4th limbs (pranayama and asana). Ashtanga yoga has been named after the eight limbs of the yoga sutras of Patanjali.
The Pranayama classes cover various approaches like Kapalbhati, Shithkari, Bhastrika, Shithali, and Bhramari' Mysore Style practised on Saturdays where learners get a chance to improve their exercise without the teacher guiding them. Still, the teacher will be present to adjust the postures if necessary.
The eligibility for this course is a sincere desire to learn and the discipline to attend all the classes. Six months of recent yoga practice in Ashtanga or Hatha is a must. It is an intense experience that helps develop a firm foundation of inner discipline.
The main objective of the 200-Hour Ashtanga YTT Course in Rishikesh is to make you a well-versed and absolute yoga teacher. But, more significantly, students at Tattvaa Yogashala are taught the appropriate use of various yoga props like yoga blocks, straps, bolsters, wall ropes, etc. These tools and confidence help the aspiring yoga instructor to perform proper adjustment and alignment and create a better insight into the underlying tenets of Ashtanga yoga.

The practice of yoga is a lifelong journey, and there is no such thing as a competition of the self. You are unique, and so are your practice and experience. Everyone's practice is an individual journey. We do not expect our students to be on the same level. However, for your benefit, we suggest you have a foundational knowledge of the Primary Series and an established practice for at least 90 minutes per day over three months before your course arrives. This will ensure you get the best from your experience with us.
We recommend doing some prepara justifytory reading and practice before you arrive in Rishikesh for 200 hr Ashtanga Yoga TTC. Try to get your body ready for the training by maintaining a 90 minutes daily routine of the Primary series for the three months before the course begins. Make a daily practice of your ritual and physically prepare for our course to get the very best out of your journey. To give your mind some exercise, here is some recommended reading to get you prepped and inspired.
Yoga teaches us to be flexible, both in body and mind! Changes are possible, but please bear the following: A student can transfer from one course to another at least one month before starting that course to attend a different course instead. We allow this transfer only once. If you cannot come, you can send someone to your place or contact us so we can let those waitlisted individuals know. If only the deposit has been paid for your 200 hour ashtanga YTTC, the new participant should pay you the deposit directly, and you both must notify us of the name change.
