The Difference

Why Choose a Retreat at Tattvaa Yogashala

Our Pokhara shala overlooks Phewa Lake with the Annapurna massif on the horizon, so the mountains are in your field of vision from the mat itself. Nepal is where the Hindu lineage we teach meets a living Buddhist tradition, and the two sit side by side here in a way they do not anywhere in India. Searching for the best yoga retreat in Nepal usually means choosing between a commercial wellness resort and an authentic yoga school — Tattvaa Yogashala has spent 26 years building the latter.

Our retreats are led by senior Indian teachers, not rotating international freelancers, and every retreat includes daily Hatha yoga, pranayama and kriya, yoga nidra, guided meditation, and yogic philosophy sessions that explain the “why” behind the practice — not only the postures.

Whether you are booking a short 3-day reset or a deep 21-day immersion, each Nepal yoga retreat package below includes accommodation, sattvic vegetarian meals, and full access to the daily schedule described further down this page.

The Destination

Why Nepal For Your Yoga Retreat?

Nepal is a quieter, cooler kind of retreat. Our Pokhara venue sits at around 800 metres overlooking Phewa Lake, with the Annapurna massif on the skyline. The temperate climate (around 15-28 degrees in the Oct-Nov and Mar-May windows) suits retreatants who find tropical heat draining and who came looking for stillness rather than buzz. Snow-capped peaks visible from the asana mat reframe what "calm" feels like - your nervous system shifts in two or three days.

Tattvaa Yogashala campus in Pokhara, Nepal

Culturally, Nepal blends Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist traditions in a way you do not find elsewhere. Around 80 percent of the country is Hindu and 9 percent Buddhist, with a strong Tibetan refugee community, so the retreat menu pairs gentle hatha and pranayama with optional Buddhist meditation sessions - shamatha, metta, and loving-kindness practice that suit even short stays. The World Peace Pagoda is across the lake; monasteries dot the hills above Pokhara.

Off the mat, the geography invites slow exploration. Sarangkot for sunrise over the Annapurnas is a 30-minute drive. Davis Falls and Bindhyabasini Temple sit within Pokhara itself. Phewa Lake boat trips and short walks to the Peace Pagoda fill afternoons. For guests who want one ambitious day out, the start of the Annapurna foothills is closer than most realise.

  • Climate — Mountain temperate, 15-28 degrees C Oct-May; cold winters
  • Setting — Pokhara overlooking Annapurna massif & Phewa Lake
  • Culture — Tibetan Buddhist + Hindu blended traditions; lake-side monasteries
  • Off-mat experience — Sarangkot sunrise, World Peace Pagoda, Phewa Lake trips

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

See All Questions

Do I need prior yoga experience to join?

No. Every retreat welcomes complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners. Teachers adapt pace and posture variations to the group's needs on each retreat.

What is included in the retreat fee besides yoga classes?

Every package includes accommodation, three sattvic vegetarian meals a day, daily Hatha yoga, pranayama and kriya, yoga nidra, yogic philosophy, evening meditation, a guided excursion, yoga mats and props, WiFi, and hot water.

Is meditation included, or only physical yoga postures?

Meditation is a core part of every retreat, not an add-on. Each day includes guided evening meditation and a yoga nidra session focused on deep relaxation and mental clarity.

What food is served during the retreat?

Meals are sattvic and fully vegetarian, prepared fresh to support digestion and yoga practice. Guests with allergies or dietary restrictions should inform the school before arrival so meals can be adjusted where possible.

Can I upgrade to a private room during a retreat?

Yes. Most retreat packages listed above are priced for shared accommodation; a private room upgrade is available for an additional cost, subject to availability at the time of booking.

Is this retreat suitable for stress, burnout or emotional healing?

Yes. Alongside the physical practice, the daily schedule is designed to support rest, nervous-system regulation and emotional processing through yoga nidra, meditation and yogic philosophy.

How do I book a spot and what is the payment process?

You can reserve a spot by sending an enquiry with your preferred dates and room type. A partial booking amount confirms your place, payable by bank transfer; the remaining balance can typically be settled on arrival in Pokhara.

What is the best time of year for a yoga retreat in Nepal?

October to early December and March to May are the best months for a yoga retreat in Pokhara — clear Annapurna views and comfortable 15–28°C days. The monsoon from June to September brings cloud that often hides the mountains, and winter is cold at 5–15°C, though retreats run year-round.

Is Nepal safe for solo travellers, including solo women?

Pokhara is long used to solo travellers and is widely considered one of the safer destinations in the region, and retreat accommodation is on-site with staff support throughout your stay.

Does the price include airport transfer?

Airport transfer is not included in the retreat prices listed above by default but can usually be arranged for an additional fee — ask when you send your enquiry.

Can I extend or shorten my retreat once I arrive?

Extensions are generally possible depending on availability and should be discussed with the school directly; shortening a booked retreat is subject to the cancellation and transfer terms shared at the time of booking.

What type of people join yoga retreats?

People come from all over the world to join our courses, from the UK and many other European countries, like Canada, the US, Australia, and more. On average, half of the people come solo on their own. As well as couples, families, friends, and siblings - everyone is welcome, and we normally have a variety of ages from the 20s and 30s to, at times, 60s!

Can we book additional yoga classes during the yoga retreat?

It's absolutely normal if you book extra yoga classes with the yoga teacher during the retreat. You can schedule and arrange this directly with the yoga instructor. A few changes that don't affect the schedule are acceptable and will surely be implemented. Additionally, you can arrange this in advance by contacting us, and we can put you in touch to arrange the private classes ahead of time.

Do you provide your own yoga mats during the yoga retreats?

Due to Covid, 19 health and safety bars, unfortunately, we won't be able to provide you with the yoga mats. Please bring your own yoga mat for the highest safety, and feel free to bring any other prop you may need for your yoga practice. Feel free to send all your queries related to this journey by mail, or you can also Whatsapp at +91-9068806322

When should I plan to leave?

Plan to arrive on the first day of the yoga retreat. We will have an induction program on the same day, and if it's the evening time, we will have a group dinner to meet with everyone.

What are the payment options for a retreat?

The course fee, including the deposit paid for registration, is non-refundable and is valid for one year from the actual course date. Students must pay a deposit to secure their space. The outstanding course fee must be paid in full before the course commences. Please note that we do not give refunds, so it is your responsibility to ensure that you are fully insured against any unforeseen circumstances that prevent you from attending the course or that require you to leave it early.

In Their Words

What Guests Say About Our Nepal Retreats

  • After completing a Pokhara trekking trip I extended my stay for a seven-day Tattvaa retreat. Practising at altitude (around 800m) made pranayama work in ways I didn't expect. The cross-tradition philosophy (Hindu + Tibetan Buddhist) was a perspective shift, not just a syllabus item.

    Mei Wong

    Hong Kong

  • Booked a five-day retreat in Pokhara to reset after a brutal London winter quarter. The cooler mountain temperate climate, lake-side setting, and gentle hatha mornings did more for my sleep and nervous system than I had expected. The Sarangkot sunrise on day four was the moment everything finally landed.

    Rohan Verma

    United Kingdom

  • Joined a Tattvaa retreat in Nepal after my Goa 200-hour two years earlier. Same Tattvaa lineage, different feel - the Himalayan setting brings a stillness the coast doesn't. The Annapurna sunrise hike on our mid-retreat day off stays with me.
