200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training In Thailand

"Yoga is 99% practice and 1% theory" ~ Pattabhi Jois.

Tattvaa Yogashala's 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand brings the authentic Ashtanga Vinyasa lineage of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois to a tropical retreat environment that supports daily practice year-round. Thailand's warm climate, deeply rooted Buddhist culture of mindfulness, and accessibility from across Asia and Europe make it an ideal location for an immersive yoga teacher training. This program is designed for beginners and intermediate practitioners who want to build a strong foundation in Ashtanga yoga while gaining the competence and confidence to teach others.

Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training course offers a comprehensive breakdown of Ashtanga Vinyasa primary series, pranayama, meditation, kriyas, alignment, and adjustments. Students gain a complete understanding of the physical, mental, and philosophical foundations of yoga while practicing in a serene tropical setting — a perfect counterpart to the intensity of daily Mysore-style practice.

200 Hour Yoga Alliance RYT-200 Certified Course

On successful completion of our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand, you will be a certified and qualified yoga instructor eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as RYT-200. Join us at Tattvaa Yogashala in Thailand for an immersive and transformative 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training experience. Build the foundation of a lifelong yoga practice while gaining the skills and confidence to share this practice with students worldwide.

What is Ashtanga Yoga, and why is it the foundation of our Thailand YTTC?

Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, also known as classical Indian yoga, was popularised by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the 20th century. "Ashtanga" refers to the eight limbs of yoga described in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, of which asana (postures) and pranayama (breath) are only two. The first two limbs — Yamas and Niyamas — are ethical foundations that align beautifully with the Buddhist values of compassion, non-harm, and right intention that already shape daily life across Thailand. Our YTTC teaches all eight limbs, with particular emphasis on the steady, breath-led practice that makes Ashtanga so transformative.

Pranayama classes cover techniques such as Kapalabhati, Sheetkari, Bhastrika, Sheetali, and Bhramari. Mysore-style classes allow you to deepen your self-practice with personalised adjustments from your teacher — a method that builds resilience, self-discipline, and a genuine connection to your own breath.

To be eligible for the course, applicants must have a sincere desire to learn and the discipline to attend every class. A minimum of six months of recent Ashtanga or Hatha yoga practice is recommended. This intensive month-long experience helps students develop the inner discipline and physical foundation that lifelong yoga practice requires.

FAQs About Our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course In Thailand

A 200-hour Ashtanga YTTC is a Yoga Teacher Training Course focused on Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, covering 200 hours of structured training in line with Yoga Alliance standards. The course includes asanas, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, and other related subjects.

Thailand offers a warm tropical climate that supports asana practice all year round, deeply rooted Buddhist mindfulness traditions, and easy international access via Bangkok. Many students find Thailand simpler to travel to than Rishikesh while still receiving the same authentic Mysore-style training. The teachers, curriculum, and certification are identical to our Rishikesh flagship course.

Most nationalities can enter Thailand visa-free or with a visa-on-arrival for short stays that cover the full course duration. We strongly recommend checking the latest requirements with the Royal Thai embassy or consulate in your country before booking flights. We are happy to provide an enrolment letter to support your application if needed.

Yes. On successful completion of the 200-hour course you will receive a Tattvaa Yogashala certificate that makes you eligible to register with Yoga Alliance USA as RYT-200. This certification enables you to teach yoga anywhere in the world and to enrol in advanced 300-hour or 500-hour YTTC programs.

Pack lightweight, breathable yoga clothing, a personal yoga mat (optional — we provide mats on site), a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, mosquito repellent, sandals, and any personal medications. Modest clothing is also recommended for any optional visits to local temples. The retreat is held in a tropical setting, so think light cotton or moisture-wicking layers.

How To Reach Our 200 Hour YTTC In Thailand

Airports, ground transport, visa logistics and tropical seasonal advice for your 200 Hour YTT in Thailand.

Nearest Airports

Thailand has three main international gateways. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) in Bangkok handles most long-haul carriers (Emirates, Qatar, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa). Don Mueang (DMK) serves budget regional flights (AirAsia, Nok Air, Scoot).

For retreats in the south of Thailand, transit at BKK or DMK and connect to Phuket (HKT) or Surat Thani (URT) + ferry to Koh Phangan. Many participants prefer flying directly into Samui (USM) + 30-minute ferry, the most relaxed routing.

Ground & Ferry Transport

From Surat Thani (URT), a combined bus + Lomprayah ferry to Koh Phangan takes around 4 hours and costs roughly THB 800 (about USD 23). From Samui Airport (USM), the Lomprayah catamaran to Koh Phangan is around 30 minutes (about THB 350 / USD 10). Fares are indicative; check current prices before booking.

On the islands, local transport is by songthaew (shared pickup truck, THB 100–200 per ride) or rented scooter (THB 200–300 per day; bring an International Driving Permit). For Phuket and Bangkok areas, Grab and Bolt ride-hail apps work well.

Airport / Pier Transfer & Visa

Private airport-to-venue or pier-to-venue transfers can be arranged on request. Send your flight or ferry details at least 72 hours in advance to [email protected] and our team will share the available options and current pricing.

Visa: Most western passports get visa-free entry for 30–60 days, depending on nationality. Indian passport holders should apply for an e-Visa on Arrival (eVOA) via thaievisa.go.th — currently around THB 2,000 (~USD 60), valid 15 days. Please check the latest requirements with the Royal Thai embassy or consulate before booking flights.

Best Time To Arrive

Thailand's tropical climate splits into three seasons. Cool season (November to February) is the most comfortable for YTT — 25–30°C, low humidity, minimal rain. Hot season (March to May) reaches 33–38°C; expect intense midday heat. Wet season (June to October) brings heavy but short tropical showers, often clearing by evening. Thailand Standard Time is UTC+7 — no daylight saving.
